    The Judicial Information Services (JIS) department is charged with the implementation, maintenance, update and training of technology systems in support of the Office of Court Management and all Judicial Departments, including the Probation Department. This includes network and servers connecting all judicial locations, computer hardware and peripherals, the myriad of software necessary to maintain the judicial programs, and the voice telecommunications services ranging from current phone systems to the use of newly installed video conferencing equipment. JIS is also charged with the production, deployment, training and maintenance of MassCourts (the web-based Trial Court Case Management System – CMS).






    The Senior Desktop Management Engineer (SDME) is a hands-on member of the Judicial Information Services Department’s User Support team. This role is responsible for the deployment, configuration, security and management of devices and client applications across our enterprise environment. The SDME’s duties will include the creation, initial provisioning and ongoing administration of all system images and driver updates across diverse hardware platforms and the daily support of current OS and application configurations. Utilizing effective verbal and written communication skills along with strategic thinking and planning, the Senior Desktop Management Engineer will also manage projects, provide technical support, and recommend service delivery improvements including hardware, software and process upgrades.



    Receives direction from Manager of Support Services in performing duties in accordance with established policies and guidelines.



    Works with minimal guidance; regularly participates in technology reviews, recommends and designs solutions to meet business requirements;


    Isolates and resolves complicated client computing issues;


    Processes, documents, and coordinates resolution of escalated trouble calls with Support Desk;


    Implements software patches, security fixes, and tests and validates modified system configurations;


    Ensures compliance with standards for systems software and documentation;


    Develops and certifies Windows client operating system master images (Windows 7/Windows 10 etc) from source platform(s). Test and integrate device drivers for new hardware models;

    Interacts with JISD management to gather end to end requirements of new builds. Document, validate and secure sign off pre deployment;

    Contributes to creation and maintenance of pertinent technical and user facing documentation;

    Maintains skills based on the industry standards and business requirements;

    Conducts training sessions and contribute to the continued development of current staff, and

    Performs other related duties as required.

    These are the minimum requirements necessary to apply for the position of Senior Desktop Management Engineer:


    Three (3) years of relevant work experience creating, deploying and troubleshooting Windows 7/Windows 10 desktop images.


    A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable;


    Strong working knowledge of infrastructure and client side technologies/applications;

    Prior experience in designing large scale OS migrations (Windows 7 to Window 10);

    Expertise and experience in working with desktop/laptop hardware products from Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc;

    Working knowledge Systems management tools such as Quest Kace (K1000/2000);

    Experience working with Dell endpoint encryption (DDPE/DDS);

    Experience with client back-up solutions (Connected/Mozy/inSync);

    Hands on experience using remote support tools (VNC, Bomgar, LogMeIn, TeamViewer etc.);


    Solid knowledge of Windows client operating systems such as Windows 7 and Windows 10;


    Expertise in the administration of Microsoft Office 2013/2106/O365;


    Hands on experience with patch management and deployment (WSUS);


    Working knowledge of Active directory, Group policy, DHCP, DNS and basic windows networking;


    Microsoft (MSCA/MCSE) or equivalent certifications required;


    Strong customer service skills;


    Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;


    Demonstrated ability to balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks;


    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams and across organizations;


    Demonstrated ability to synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly; and


    Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships inside and outside the organization.
